For the ground a robot mower cannot touch. The ZNW-500 is a tracked, remote-controlled brush mower built for steep banks, orchard rows, ditches and overgrown lots — the jobs where you would otherwise be swinging a string trimmer on a 45-degree slope.

You drive it from a handheld remote at a safe distance. Rubber tracks and a low centre of gravity keep it planted on grades that would roll a ride-on, and the anti-stall four-stroke engine keeps cutting through growth that would bog down a battery machine.

What it is good for

  • Slopes and embankments. 45 degrees is steeper than you can safely walk a mower across.
  • Orchards and rough ground. Cuts weeds and undergrowth between rows without compacting soil the way a tractor does.
  • Ditches, verges and lots. You stay on level ground while the machine works the bank.
  • Heavy growth. Petrol torque and a steel deck handle material that stops lighter machines.

Before you buy

  • This is a petrol-powered, remote-controlled machine. It is not a robotic mower — it does not map your yard, run on a schedule, or return to a dock on its own. An operator drives it.
  • It is a brush and slope machine rather than a finish mower. For a manicured suburban lawn, a robotic mower is the better tool.
  • Ear protection is recommended, as with any petrol outdoor equipment.
